Since I left college, my summer has never been without a job. I’ve worked immediately after college with a short 2 week vacation. The best ever vacation. One which I will always remember.

Joy
I have had this topic joy for several months and have never been able to tackle it until now. My main concern with the word joy is whether or not it is a product of the first world? I think yes and no. Joy from watching the latest HBO show or getting the newest iPhone is definitely a first world creation. But I believe that inherently, we all want joy in its most raw form—being alive and having a meaning to that life.

2015 Year in Retrospective
As the year rolls to the end, I had to remind myself that I’ve been neglecting my blog for half a year! Continue reading “2015 Year in Retrospective”
Meet Me In Switzerland
Switzerland has never been on my list of countries to visit, since I don’t enjoy the cold. I prefer warm weather, old buildings, history and romance, or blazing sun on white sand beach with warm teal water. And since the country is in fact surrounded by the Alps, it didn’t seem like the most seasonable situation for me. Weather Channel is forecasting rain the time I’ll be there. Alas, temperature and precipitation aside, who could refuse a request to be a date at a ball in a palace?

Goals for 30
My goals for 30 are simple mostly because I want to enjoy life spontaneously and not constantly with a planned out list. If you don’t know me by now, I love lists. I love making them, checking them off, re-reading them. When I feel lost or bored with life, I go back to my lists and re-focus.

If I were…
As I am nearing the end of my writing challenge, I find myself blocked. It’s one of those insanely awful road block for the creative mind. And worse, work has completely fried my brain for the week.
So to keep up with some creativity, I always do some writing practicing, using metaphors to create a persona.

Food I couldn’t live without
When I joked to my boyfriend that he may be allergic to dairy, the Italian in him vehemently protested. “Life is not worth living without cheese,” he bemoaned dramatically.
It had me thinking, what would be the food I couldn’t live without?
I love food but I have 2 allergies that prevent me from eating everything under the sun.

13 Places to Eat in 2013
I know I should be worrying about my weight and waist size but I can’t give up food. I just have to work out twice as hard so that I can try out all these awesome food eateries! It’s New York, a place where I can have Thai food for breakfast and pancakes for dinner.
These are listed in no particular order but just look at all the yummy food!

List: Karaoke night
Is it too stereotypical to say Asians love karaoke? Almost every Cambodian family I knew growing up in the Khmer community had a karaoke machine with those HUGE LP’s. Needless to say, every Khmer party was not complete without food (noodles, pra-hok, or hot pot), card playing, and of course, music, meaning karaoke. Sometimes I enjoy going, most times, I can’t wait to go home, snuggle in bed with a good book or movie and avoid people.

List: Flowers I Love
I love flowers. I adore the smell, the feel, and its beauty that last so minutely in a span of our life. Once plucked, it withers and shrivels, disintegrating back into the earth it came out of. But even without touching, it’s just likely to die like all life on earth. Yet, I am enthralled and seduced by them.
