Living in a Greek neighborhood, you learn to appreciate octopus as an appetizer. It’s rare to go to a Greek restaurant without ever ordering a grill octopus. It’s expensive but at least, not as expensive as in the city. Astoria is great for that: great food at decent price.

Day 28: Poached Egg Kale Salad
Nothing says weekend like breakfast in bed. CSA had included white kale and I really wanted to try this new recipe that my boyfriend got at Mar’s restaurant, kale and pickled eggs. I only started to pickle eggs the previous night so I decided to replace with poached egg for a breakfast meal.

Day 4 Berry Citrus Salad
I love hot weather. It’s one of my favorite season. But I won’t lie that it’s a bit unbearable without an AC. And since I can’t afford to waste my money on electricity, there’s no AC in the house. So all the heavy cooking/baking tends to be done in the early mornings when it’s still cooler weather, damp from dew and cooled by night breeze.
